Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison Hosts Tennessee Bar Association Members for Civil Rights Program

Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison proudly hosted a special Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyers Division program focused on civil rights education. Nashville has a rich history of influential civil rights events that attendees learned about during a downtown walking tour. Stops included Hume-Fogg High School, the Woolworth Theater, and the Hermitage Hotel. These sites represent important moments in the civil rights movement that influenced equal treatment for Black customers, women’s voting rights, and the installation of an elevator for disabled persons in a federal building.

Following the informative tour, attendees were invited to SRVH’s office for a lively discussion with Bill Harbison and John Farringer. In addition to other legal issues, they shared with the group their experience and the impact of their work on the Tennessee case that established the national right to same-sex marriage.
