We have a team of attorneys experienced in representing professional sports franchises in operational and transactional matters. Our attorneys understand the nuances associated with running a business in the world of professional sports and bring an experienced, practical approach to our professional sports franchise clients. Likewise, we have represented various investor groups in the acquisition of professional sports franchises and also multiple individuals with respect to their minority investments in teams.
For example, we have served as lead counsel for multiple franchises in debt and equity financings and with respect to the negotiation of all types of operational agreements, such as naming rights agreements, television and radio rights agreements, sponsorship, suite license, and advertising agreements, and employment agreements. We have also represented different Clubs in their negotiations with local municipalities regarding the use and operations of government owned arenas.
With respect to our transactional experience in sports law, SRVH has served as lead counsel to an investor group that acquired a franchise through expansion, leading negotiations with the league on the expansion agreement and entry into the league, leading negotiations with the city regarding the license and use of the team’s arena, and finalizing both debt and equity financings for the acquisition. We have also acted as lead counsel in the purchase and sale of existing franchises. Also, we have frequently represented investors with respect to the purchase and sale of minority interests in franchises. Finally, we from time to time represent management in their negotiations with their franchise regarding their employment agreements.
