Dewey Branstetter Appointed to the Tennessee Ethics Commission

Dewey Branstetter has been appointed by Governor Bill Lee to serve as a member of the Tennessee Ethics Commission.

The purpose of the Tennessee Ethics Commission is to sustain the public’s confidence in government by increasing the integrity and transparency of state and local government through the regulation of lobbying activities, financial disclosure requirements, and ethical conduct.

The Commission is comprised of six members. The Governor, the Speaker of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives each appoint two members to the Commission. Dewey will serve a term of three years, expiring on December 31, 2028.

Dewey concentrates his practice primarily on utility and municipal issues; employment matters, including employee benefits issues; and complex litigation. He has extensive experience advising and representing utility districts, municipalities, and utility related entities.. He has handled wide‐ranging employment matters for both employees and employers, including employment contracts, separation issues, labor disputes, and pension plan issues, as well as regularly assisting employees with non‐compete covenants, benefit issues, shareholder agreements, and severance packages.

Dewey has also been an elected official, having served on the Metro Nashville Board of Public Education for 11 years, including three years as its chairman.
