Inaugural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Week

Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison launched an annual event series focused on diversity, equity and inclusion within the firm and the community. Diversity Week was held June 14-18, 2021, in conjunction with Pride month and Juneteenth. The Sherrard Roe Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee brainstormed and created daily events during the firm’s lunch hour that included lunches from local, minority-owned businesses.
Sherrard Roe Diversity Week included:
Day 1
Sherrard Roe partners Phil Cramer & Amy Mohan spoke on important DEI-related pro bono work at Sherrard Roe, including in the immigration, marriage equality, and death penalty/clemency realms. Lunch was provided by Shep’s Delicatessen.
Day 2
Guest speakers from PFLAG Nashville, Tennessee Equity Project, and Nashville LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce discussed LGBTQ+ legal and workplace issues, current legislation, definitions, and what it means to be a LGBTQ+ ally. Lunch was provided by Greko Street Food.
Day 3
Celebrate Diversity: A Virtual Team-Building Scavenger Hunt hosted by Watson Adventures. Lunch was provided by Merengue Café.
Day 4
Viewing and discussion of Pixar Short Film-Purl regarding work place equality and culture. Lunch was provided by Thai Esane.
Day 5
Sherrard Roe Juneteenth Email Blast and discussion regarding the Juneteenth holiday, the Tulsa Massacre–Black Wall Street and more. Lunch was provided by Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria.
