Michael Abelow Appointed to Serve as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee

June 24, 2025   |   Aimee Moore

Mike Abelow has been appointed by the United States Bankruptcy Court to serve as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee for the Middle District of Tennessee.

Chapter 7 Panel Trustees are individuals appointed by the U.S. Trustee Program, an arm of the Department of Justice, to administer Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. They play a critical role in managing a debtor’s estate and ensuring fairness to both debtors and creditors.

Mike is also a Subchapter 5 Trustee of Chapter 11 bankruptcies for the Middle District of Tennessee. In this role, he acts as a fiduciary for creditors involving companies with debts up to $7.5 million in lieu of an appointed creditors committee, helping facilitate deals between debtors and creditors towards consensual plans of reorganization.

In Mike’s legal practice, he represents a diverse clientele at the intersection of business litigation and business bankruptcy. He is able to not only obtain a judgment, but also take steps to ensure that the judgment is “worth the paper it is written on,” by preventing efforts to dissipate assets. On the other side of the equation, he advises companies and individuals who are defending litigation who are simultaneously exploring their bankruptcy options. This confluence of business disputes and ability-to-pay issues includes advice and litigation concerning fraudulent transfers, preference claims, alter ego claims, veil piercing, and lender liability.
